We now have wi-fi up and running in all three practices with both patient access and secure NHS access. Patients cannot access any information on the practice network nor can they see or communicate with any devices on the practice network.
By default, the system is configured to allow patients to connect to the internet without a password. Patients are taken to a splash page and have to agree to the terms listed before they can get online.
Gaming websites, peer-to-peer (P2P), VoIP (Skype and other web-based telephony), pornography and file sharing websites are all blocked.
It is hoped that the introduction of wi-fi services in GP practices will support greater use of technology in the future.
